A BIT OF HISTORY
Hemp has a long history in Thailand, where it was traditionally used for various purposes, including as a medicinal herb and in cultural and religious practices from India to the Kingdom of Siam. Cannabis was referred to as "gancha" in the region and was consumed both recreationally and for its therapeutic properties.
However, In the mid-20th century, Thailand, like many other countries, began to implement strict drug policies. The 1979 Narcotic Act imposed a complete ban on the use and possession of the product, leading to a period of stringent enforcement.
